Hey, everyone...I'm new here...and I need to make posts so here goes-
The Mariners have like, the third highest payroll in Baseball...but they have the worst record in baseball this year. Since they got new management, they're starting to pick up. They're 6-4 in the last 10 games (since Jim Riggleman took over) and won their last two series. Sure, they were against the Mets and the Padres, but we'll take it! Earlier in the year the Mariners took two out of three against the Red Socks...of course, Manny was out with a Hammy (I think it was his hamstring that was injured)...but again, we'll take it!
Over all, the Mariners are 31 and 51....that makes them 17.5 games behind the Angels. There's still a lot of baseball left this year, but if they're gonna win more games, the players need to earn their keep.
I appreciate Riggleman's subtle changes to the lineup. It seems he's not necessarily playing the players that make the most, but playing the players that want to earn their keep. I appreciate seeing Jeremy Reed more. You'll get more hits from him per dollar than most of the other M's this year. I'm super happy Brandon Morrow is pitching better. I wish pitcher Felix Hernandez hadn't 1) gotten hurt, and 2) was a DH . I wish a couple pitchers would fall off the face of the earth.
Some time last month, about the time the Nationals were sweeping the Mariners (I still shudder when I think about that!) , I went into a Footlocker looking for a Mariner's Jersey. The clerk asked me, "How are you today?" I replied, "Not so good...I'm a Mariner's Fan...these are half price, right?"
The clerk laughed, but at the same time gave me a look that told me he felt my pain.
All in all, I'm hoping, praying for a nice comeback....kinda like what the Yankees did last year.
I'll stay with the Mariners and keep wearing my overpriced Footlocker Mariner's jersey even if they don't.
